Driving Sustainable Growth Through Data Sharing.
Established in 2017, AquaCloud began as a big data project rooted in the aquaculture industry’s need to address shared challenges and promote sustainable growth.
Initially, AquaCloud operated as a project under The Seafood Innovation Cluster, bringing together several member companies within the cluster. In 2021, it transitioned into a standalone company with its own strategy and direction, while remaining fully owned by Seafood Innovation. This move provided greater independence from the cluster, allowing for more focused development.
In the following years, AquaCloud prioritized expanding its network and increasing participation. As traction grew, the value of data sharing became increasingly clear to stakeholders across the industry.
By January 2025, AquaCloud has grown to include more than 30 data-sharing partners (fish farmers).The customer base is spanning research institutions, suppliers, and fish farmers. Our growth continues, with new companies joining us regularly.
Key players in the aquaculture industry support AquaCloud financially, enabling us to pursue our mission of building a dedicated data-sharing platform for the sector. Today, our team has grown significantly and is fully committed to sharing data and enhancing data quality to benefit the entire industry.

AquaCloud has a role as a neutral part enabling access to data across industry players supporting the industry, suppliers and researchers with data!
AquaCloud has 32 data-sharing partners, salmon and trout farmers, across Norway's coastline. These partners make up about 55% of the biomass of farmed Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout present in Norwegian waters at any given time, making AquaCloud the leading data platform for data sharing in the Norwegian aquaculture industry.
