Data Sharing and Digital Standards for the Aquaculture Industry
AquaCloud connects the industry through four main workflows
Data Platform
The Data Platform contains unique high-resolution data on operations collected from participating companies along the coast, which is masked and supplemented with external data for holistic datasets. Data which is to be shared with innovators and service providers who creates value back to the fish farmers.
Sensor DatA STANDARDS
The amount of sensors used today is growing, and the amount of data possible to gather even more so. This IoT-based standard for sensors secures well-described semantic models, enables any system built upon it to scale with growing industry requirements, and makes data accessible and shareable towards those who can help find answers in the growing datasets.
Fish HealtH STANDARDS
Securing strong fish health is crucial to achieve best results and provide best fish welfare in fish farming. Transforming records through standardization at farm level ensures harmonized data for better insight and a foundation for continuous improvements.
Environmental DatA STANDARDS
This workflow reviews NS9417 with the aim of establishing an industry standard for environmental data collection in open sea cages. The standard for environmental data will detail what to measure, where to measure, and how to measure.

Behind AquaCloud is Norway’s leading seafood companies
AquaCloud was established in 2017 and is a big data project anchored in the aquaculture industry’s need to solve common challenges in order to create sustainable growth.
The project is part of NCE Seafood Innovation and began together with cluster members Lerøy Seafood Group ASA, Grieg Seafood ASA, Bremnes Seashore AS, Lingalaks AS, and Bolaks AS. The project has developed substantially since 2017, and today the project involve a even broader group of leading aquaculture companies.
Moving forward, we welcome other companies to take part in the future of the seafood industry where actors collaborate on common challenges by adopting open standards.
